D-div : Torpedos @ East Bay-II
Date : 3 June 2007
Played at : Lorin Eden
Umpires : Jagdeep Singh (on behalf of Tracy-II)
Toss : won by Torpedos and elected to bat

Torpedos : 181/10 in 45 overs(Vipul 66, Monty 5/41)

beat
East Bay-II : 163/10 in 33.3 overs(Harshal 44, Mahesh 35, Neeraj 4/43, Kunal 4/21)

Both teams had been looking forward to this game for quiet some time now. The game was played in good spirits with the usual banter and Torpedos came out on top this time. Torpedos won the toss and elected to bat first and the way Neeraj started belting the ball all over, it looked like East Bay was in for a long day in the field but Monty produced a beauty to bowl Neeraj for 22. After Neeraj\'s dismissal, the momentum turned in East Bay\'s favor and they were able to take wickets at regular intervals and Torpedos were struggling at 68/6 after 15 overs. Tarun and Vipul dug in for the Torpedos and ensured that no more wickets were lost in the next 15 overs, although only 48 runs were scored during this period. Vipul opened up after the second drinks break and played some aggressive shots to up the scoring rate and guided Torpedos to a fighting total of 181/10 from 45 overs.

East Bay started off in disastrous fashion losing the first wicket on the third ball of the innings. Monty and Mahesh were able to take 17 runs off Neeraj\'s second over but he came back and picked up Monty in the next over. Neeraj bowled his quota of overs on the trot and picked up 4 key wickets. East Bay couldn\'t string together any partnerships and lost wickets at regular intervals. Harshal and Krunal played well in the end and at one point were threatening the target but Harshal fell 18 short of the target. In the end, it was a closely fought game that neither team deserved to lose.

It turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Tracy as they dominated the initial proceedings and East Bay batsmen lost the plot as they decided for the big shots against the wind. Tracy was in command at East Bay were struggling at 136 for 9 after 32 overs. What followed was a treat to watch as Davinder dominated and took the attack to the Tracy bowlers who had no answer for his onslaught. Davinder scored 65 off only 54 balls as East Bay reached 219 for 9 in the alloted 45 overs. Kunal ably supported Davinder as they put on a partnership of 83 runs at better than a run per ball.

Tracy never batsmen never looked like they would reach anywhere near the target against an inspired East Bay bowling attack. The fast bowlers were able to build some pressure by maintaining an accurate line and length and they were supported well by the fielders. Tracy batsmen were crawling along at 51/3 after 18 overs when the two spinners in the form of Mandeep and Kunal came on to bowl. The spinners were able to choke the runs and shared 7 wickets between them for 45 runs from 18 overs. It was a clinical performance by East Bay in the field as they trounced Tracy by 120 runs and improved to 3-1 on the season.

SCA 214 all out in 40.5 overs (Prem Suri 76, Vinay Suri 20, Monty Bijlani 9-0-40-3, Harshal 9-0-39-2, Mandeep 9-0-28-2)

lost to

East Bay-II : 215/5 in 34.5 overs(Monty B 56(56b, 4x9, 6x1), Mahesh N. 42(42b,3 4x5, 6x1) Israr K. 39(19b, 4x1, 6x5))

Prem's 76 and a good partnership with Vinay took SCA to an imposing 112-1 in 15 overs, but the middle order lost it's way somewhat, and it was left up to the real youngsters in the tail to eke out a total of 214, which included a 25 run partnership for the 10th wicket.

SCA felt pretty confident with that score, but a plethora of dropped chances cost them dearly, and Mahesh, Monty and Israr took advantage with a few big hits, getting East Bay to their total in style...

East Bay-II wasted an excellent performance
from their bowlers as the batting order collapsed chasing a relaticely
low target of 161 to win from 45 overs. Tri Valley won the toss and
elected to bat first the East Bowlers showed no signs of rust in the
season opener and made life difficult for the Tri Valley batsmen. The
bowlers look in mid-season form as they bowled out Tri Vlley for 160,
with only Ramesh (58) being the top scorer for Tri Valley and only two
          other batsmen reaching double figures.
In reply, East Bay was off to a quick
start but the momentum changed when Monty was dismissed by Hemraj. East
Bay bastmen were unable to occupy the crease for any length of time
as they went for their shots without getting their eye in. East Bay
lost their last hopes of a win when Mandeep was give out LBW off an
inside edge. Harshal and Davinder put together a 30 run partnership
but it was all to late as Harshal was bowled off his pads and East Bay
was bundled out for 92 in 22.5 overs.
